It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the match."

"The possibility to take the field and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was removed the team required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated through the pain.

However although she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
