🔗 Share this article Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the last five grands prix. The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Norris, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds. Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session. Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup. Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting. The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier. The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight. Hamilton ended the session in P19, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver. The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, over half a second off Piastri's pace. The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
